1. Interlock Knitting, and Why Not Curling Matters

Three words in the title carry the technical weight here, and the least familiar is interlock. Interlock is a double-knit construction: two sets of yarns form two faces interlocked with each other rather than joined by a pile, so both sides read as a face and neither is a wrong side.

The benefit the description singles out is resistance to curling, and that is worth taking seriously. A single-knit fabric rolls at a cut edge - a nuisance on a cutting table, because the roll must be trimmed back or buried in a seam allowance. An interlock has no such tendency: edges stay where they were cut, which saves material and makes narrow trims and binding easier to run.

Dimensional stability comes from the same place. Two interlocked faces restrain one another, so a panel keeps the shape it was cut in.

2. A Wavy Jacquard That Changes the Thickness

The pattern on this article is not flat. In the photographs the wavy motifs sit raised above the ground - solid, densely knitted bands standing proud of an open mesh - and where the cloth lies over a coloured surface, that surface reads through the openings between them.

That is where the three-dimensional claim comes from, and it is a local property: thickness varies across the repeat, thick where the wave runs and thin where the mesh shows. The wave is also graded - hence gradual - so the forms change scale across the width instead of repeating identically, which keeps an obvious repeat line off the panel.

For apparel that gives surface interest and soft dimensional relief without embroidery or print. Expect the two zones to behave differently under a needle, though: the raised bands take stitch load, the open ground does not.

3. Wicking and Anti-Bacteria: Two Claims, Two Kinds of Evidence

The feature list carries both wicking and anti-bacteria, and they ask different things of you.

Wicking is largely a property of yarn and structure: fine filaments and an open path move moisture along the fabric rather than letting it pool, which is why a light mesh feels drier against the skin than a flat knit of the same weight. It is a comfort claim, built into the cloth.

Anti-bacteria is a finish rather than a structure, so it arrives with paperwork attached. The description frames it as protection against odour-causing bacteria. Before that wording reaches your packaging, three things need settling: the standard the finish is tested to, the number of wash cycles its performance is rated for, and whether the chemistry is compatible with the skin-contact certificate under which this article is supplied. 4. Lightweight, and What It Still Holds

Thickness is described as lightweight and the build measures 2-3 mm at 230 gsm - a light cloth that still has body. The combination is deliberate: enough substance to hang a panel and hold the jacquard definition, little enough that the fabric moves with the wearer and layers easily.

5. Apparel First, Home Textiles Alongside

The copy positions this fabric for girls' apparel, and the attribute table lists a wider set of uses with it - bedding, sofa, mattress, chairs and cushions. They are less contradictory than two halves of the same property set: a light, breathable, dimensionally stable mesh with a decorative surface suits a dress or a top, and a cushion or chair back for the same reasons.

Say which you are making when you order. Width and finishing are set differently for apparel than for upholstery.

Does interlock make the fabric heavier?

Not by itself. Two interlocked faces add a little structure versus a single knit of the same yarn, but weight is set by yarn and density - which is why this article is quoted at 230 gsm and still called lightweight.

Can the wavy pattern be adjusted?

The wave is a jacquard design, so scale and spacing can be developed within the repeat the frame carries. Send the direction you want and we will confirm repeat size and setup.

Will the anti-bacterial finish survive washing?
