DF7032 is knitted from 100% polyester in three layers. The face carries a repeating diamond structure, each large unit built from a cluster of smaller knitted pores. Underneath sits a solid knitted base that gives the article body and opacity, and between the two run the spacer yarns that hold the layers apart at 2 to 3 mm.

At 220 g/m2 in a 150 cm roll, it is light enough for footwear linings and bag panels while still having the substance a quilted mattress cover needs. Face and base can be knitted in different tones, so the article reads as a two-tone material; the shade in our gallery is a soft sage green, and colour is made to order.

The second listed feature matters most at the points where a fabric is punctured or pulled. On footwear that means lace eyelets and collar stitching; on bags it means strap anchor points and the corners where a loaded panel is flexed; on quilted bedding it means the seam lines, which take the load every time a cover is fitted or removed.

A knitted structure spreads that stress across adjacent loops rather than concentrating it on a single thread, so a spacer mesh resists tearing away from a stitch line more readily than a flat woven of comparable weight. The result is a panel that stays put under repeated handling.

Water resistance on a knitted spacer can be delivered in more than one way, and the route chosen affects how the fabric behaves in production and in service. Before locking a specification, settle three questions with our technical team:

• How the water resistance is achieved on your build, so that a technical file can describe it accurately.
• Which test standard your market expects, and at what level - useful if your customer asks for a report rather than a claim.
• Whether the treatment has to survive repeated washing, since that requirement changes the finishing route.

Settling these early avoids a retail buyer later asking for documentation the specification was never designed to produce.

Three kinds of paperwork are available, and it helps to know which one a customer will request first.

• Product certification. OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 covers the range and is renewed each year - normally the certificate a bedding or apparel retailer asks for at the outset.
• System certification. ISO 9001 for quality, ISO 14001 for environment and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety; IATF 16949 applies where a programme reaches vehicle interiors.
• Social compliance. Sedex and Walmart audits are carried out at the plant each year.

In production, checks are run at every stage, and lot records remain traceable back from the shipment.

Can a knitted mesh really be waterproof?

It can be specified to resist liquid penetration while remaining air-permeable. Waterproof is a broad word, though, and the level matters in practice - so tell us the standard your market works to and we will confirm what the build can achieve.

Will the finish survive washing?

That depends on the finishing route chosen, which is why we ask about laundering before quoting. Where a treatment has to survive repeated wash cycles, we would rather say so at the specification stage than discover it after the first trial.

Can the face and base take different colours?

Yes. Colour is a customization point on this article: the two layers can be set to different tones for a two-tone effect, or matched to a swatch you supply.
