1. Three Metres of Width, and What It Changes

A 300 cm roll is the first thing to notice about DF2308, because width decides how a panel is cut long before it decides how the fabric looks.

Take curtains. A full-drop window needs roughly 250 to 300 cm of fabric from rail to floor. On a 300 cm roll that drop is taken across the width, so the panel is cut in one piece with no horizontal join. That removes a seam across the middle of the window, a sewing operation, and a stitching line that is the weakest point in a wash. A narrower roll needs two lengths joined, and the join shows in daylight coming through.

Office furniture and bags see a different benefit. A wider roll means more panels per running metre and fewer joins per cover, so offcuts shrink and the cutting plan simplifies. A panel cut in one piece instead of two loses a seam and its labour with it.

2. High Abrasion: The First Test an Upholstery Buyer Runs

Abrasion resistance describes how the fabric behaves where it is rubbed - the front edge of a task chair, an armrest, or wherever a bag strap drags in use and transport.

The property is measured by rub tests that drag the fabric against a standard abrasive medium until the yarns fail. Martindale, defined in ISO 12947-2, is the method used across Europe and Asia; Wyzenbeek, ASTM D4157, is the one North American programmes name. The two move differently and do not produce equivalent numbers, so performance is quoted against the method your programme specifies rather than as one figure. Name the method and the threshold, and the build is confirmed against it - a result on one scale does not transfer to the other.

Density is why this construction performs under rubbing. A tight, finely gauged knit with short yarn floats presents a compact surface, so load is shared across many yarns rather than landing on a few. DF2308 is a fine mesh at 480 gsm in a 3 mm profile - close and heavy rather than open.

3. Three Ways This Fabric Is Asked Not to Fail

The attributes name three properties, and they answer three different failure modes.

Tear resistance concerns a cut or pinhole spreading. A chair cover is pierced by staples and stitching; a bag is loaded against a fixed point. Tear strength is the force needed to extend an existing nick - a different measurement, since a fabric can rub well and tear badly.

Anti-static behaviour stops the fabric building a charge as it moves, so it does not attract dust or cling - useful in an office and on any product that is handled and folded.

Shrink resistance is what a panel measures after washing, which decides whether a curtain still hangs to length and whether a cover still fits its frame.

4. Certified and Washable

DF2308 is certified to OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, the independent test scheme for textile articles, which assesses material against a published list of restricted substances with defined limits and sets limits appropriate to skin contact.

The certification covers the fabric as supplied, so it answers the first question about anything that will be sat on or handled: what is in the material. A certificate number can be issued with the order documentation.

Washability is a maintenance property customers notice: with shrink resistance it means a cover or curtain can be cleaned and refitted rather than replaced. Test the cycle the product will actually receive, since temperature and drying decide the result as much as the fabric does.

7. Who Makes It

Changshu Dafa Warp Knitting has worked on this family of fabrics since 1993 and does nothing else. The machine base runs to over 250 double needle bar warp knitting frames spanning gauges G12 to G28, more than eighty of them KARL MAYER units, with capacity near 900 tons a month.

Dyeing and finishing are in-house, as is a sewing workshop, so a shade and a finished panel come from the same supplier as the greige roll. At 300 cm that control matters most at finishing: keeping a width that large flat and consistent through dyeing is a handling question, and easier when one company owns both ends.

9. Buyer Questions

Can we take a full curtain drop from the 300 cm width?

Yes - that is the main reason to choose it. A drop up to 300 cm is cut as a single panel with no horizontal join, so no seam line crosses the window and no stitching can fail in washing.

Which abrasion method should we specify?

Whichever your market uses - Martindale for European or Asian programmes, Wyzenbeek for North American ones. The two do not convert, so name the method and the threshold and the build will be confirmed against that figure.

Will the shade match across repeat orders?

Dyeing is done in our own dyehouse, so a shade is matched from a swatch or a reference and held for repeat production.

Is it suitable for a chair that is used all day?

The construction is a dense, heavy mesh rather than an open one, which is what gives abrasion and tear performance at 3 mm. Tell us where the cover is loaded - seat, back or armrest edge - and we will confirm the build for that position.
