1. Why Width Is the First Decision

Fewer seams is not only an aesthetic question. Every joint is a place where a cover can pucker, where filling can migrate, and where an extra operation is added to the sewing line. Wide fabric removes those operations, along with the offcut waste that comes from piecing narrow rolls together.

Behind that width sits a genuine three-dimensional construction: a honeycomb mesh face, a fine base layer, and spacer yarns that knit the two together. The result is a breathable, springy textile that holds its thickness under a body rather than flattening into a sheet.

2. The Fabric at a Glance

DF1137BI is a warp-knitted spacer mesh in 100% Polyester, supplied in a 220 cm roll at 2 to 3 mm thick. The face is an open honeycomb mesh; the base is a fine, dense knit in a deeper shade, which gives the article a built-in two-tone effect. Undyed, it reads as light grey over black; dyed, it becomes a deep charcoal.

Because the two surfaces are knitted together by spacer yarns rather than laminated, there is no adhesive layer to age, and the profile stays consistent from the first metre of the roll to the last.

We can supply this article in either state. Undyed, it arrives as a light grey face over a black base - a clean, technical look that suits mattress cores and panels where the fabric is largely hidden. Dyed, it becomes a deep charcoal that works as a finished surface on sofas, seating and visible bedding.

Dyeing and finishing take place in our own plant, so both the face and the base tone can be set to your swatch, and yarn-dyed patterns can be developed where a look is needed that piece dyeing cannot produce.

• Breathable. The open honeycomb face and the air gap held by the spacer yarns let heat and vapour travel away from the body instead of collecting under a mattress cover.
• Quick-Dry. The structure holds very little water, so the fabric dries quickly after washing - useful wherever products are washed between uses.
• Anti Pill. The knitted surface resists the fuzzing and fibre balls that make a textile look worn, so upholstery and bedding look cleaner for longer.
• Anti-Bacteria. The finish helps inhibit microbial growth inside the fabric, which matters for bedding and products that rest against skin for long periods.
• Eco-Friendly. A single-material polyester build that is durable in service and straightforward to recycle at end of life, backed by OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100.

7. Working With the Roll

• Cutting. The fabric is dimensionally stable, so cut panels hold their size and stack cleanly through the line.
• Stitching and binding. It runs on standard sewing equipment, and the knit tolerates needling at the seam without tearing out.
• Bonding. Where a firmer handle is required, the article can be combined with foam or wadding before covering.
• Washing. Requirements change with the finish applied, so please confirm your test protocol with our team before bulk production.

The article sits inside a range that carries OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, retested annually. Our management systems are certified to ISO 9001 for quality, ISO 14001 for environment and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety, with IATF 16949 in place where a programme reaches vehicle interiors. The plant is also covered by annual social compliance audits. Production is checked at each stage and can be traced back from the shipment.

This is a make-to-order article, so the specification is set with you rather than picked from a shelf. Tell us the width, weight, colour and finish you need, and note the stage you are at - a development quantity can be arranged below normal production volumes, and sample yardage can be sent for evaluation first. Quotations are built from those parameters, after which we confirm lead time and payment terms. Rolls are packed in poly bags inside woven bags, private-label packing is available, and shipments load from Shanghai or Ningbo.

What is the difference between the undyed and dyed versions?

Undyed, the article is a light grey face over a black base. Dyed, it becomes a deep charcoal. Both can be matched to your swatch, and because we dye in-house we can also set the face and base tones independently.

Will it keep its thickness once a person sits or lies on it?

Yes. The two faces are joined by knitted spacer yarns, which compress under load and then recover, so the fabric cushions rather than collapsing permanently into a flat sheet.

Is it suitable for products that touch the skin?

It is listed for men, women, girls, boys and infant use, and the range carries OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, so it is designed for contact applications as well as hidden structural layers.
