Wholesale 100% Polyester 3D Air Mesh Fabric Breathable 3D Spacer Knit Material for Sports Shoes and Footwear
Shoe designers rarely hunt for one miracle material. They look for fabric that behaves predictably at four moments: when it is cut, when it is stitched or bonded, when the foot moves inside it, and after hours on the feet. DF041 holds up at all four.
- Overview
- Recommended Products
- Breathable. Air and vapour move out through the honeycomb face, keeping a sports shoe from turning into a hot box during activity.
- Tear-resistant. The knitted structure resists ripping at stitch lines and eyelets, where footwear materials face the most stress.
- Shrink-resistant. Panel dimensions stay stable through finishing, so a cut component still matches the pattern at assembly.
- Anti-static. Static charge is dissipated through the fabric, an advantage in industrial footwear and clean-environment manufacturing.
- Light at 200 g/m2. Keeps the finished shoe light while still delivering 2 to 3 mm of cushioning.
- Colour. Light blue and dark blue as shown in our gallery, plus custom dyeing to your swatch, with the face and base tones set separately.
- Roll width. 220 cm as standard, which reduces waste on wide panel layouts.
- Weight and thickness. 200 g/m2 at 2 to 3 mm is the standard build; other weights and thicknesses can be developed.
- Finishes. Anti-static, moisture-wicking, anti-bacterial or flame-retardant treatments can be applied at the finishing stage.
- Further processing. Fabric can also be supplied as finished components from our own sewing workshop.
- More than 250 warp knitting machines on the floor, spanning needle gauges G12 through G28.
- 80+ of those machines are KARL MAYER units.
- Monthly output of roughly 900 tons of spacer fabric.
- Two production plants, Changshu and Huaian, together around 50,000 m2.
- 300+ fabric designs on file for buyers who need something outside their current range.
- Ongoing shipments to Europe, the Americas, the Middle East and Asia.
1. Cutting, Lining and Building: Where DF041 Fits In
Shoe designers rarely hunt for one miracle material. They look for fabric that behaves predictably at four moments: when it is cut, when it is stitched or bonded, when the foot moves inside it, and after hours on the feet. DF041 holds up at all four.
It is a warp-knitted 3D spacer mesh in 100% polyester, supplied at 200 g/m2 in a 220 cm roll width and 2 to 3 mm thick. Wide, light and dimensionally stable is the combination that suits footwear lines cutting large panels and placing components accurately.
2. Fabric Construction: What the Two Layers Do
DF041 is knitted on double needle bar warp knitting machines. A hexagonal honeycomb mesh face and a denser base layer are made at the same time and connected by spacer yarns, so the surfaces cannot separate and the profile stays consistent across the roll.
The open face does the breathing and provides the engineered look; the base layer supplies body and opacity. Because the base is knitted in a deeper tone, the finished article reads as two-tone. Our reference colourway pairs a light blue face with a navy base, and the two tones can be set independently.

5. How the Fabric Performs in Wear
6. Colourways and Development Options
7. From Our Machines to Your Line
One company, one chain of control. We have knitted 3D spacer fabric since 1993, and the stages that decide the final hand feel - knitting, dyeing and finishing, then sewing - all take place under our own roof rather than through subcontractors.
8. Compliance and Testing
Footwear buyers usually want the paperwork before the price. The fabric range carries OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100, retested every year, while our management systems are certified to ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment) and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety), with IATF 16949 in place for programmes that reach vehicle interiors.
On the social side, annual Sedex, COSTCO and Walmart audits cover the plant. Inside production, checks run at every stage - incoming yarn, knitting, dyeing, finishing and packing - with records traced back to the shipment.
9. Order Process
Development runs and bulk orders are priced differently, so tell us which stage you are at. Trial quantities below normal production volumes are available, and yardage for fit and wear trials can be sent before anything is committed to the line. Quotations are built from weight, roll width, colour, finish and quantity; once fixed, we confirm lead time and payment terms. Rolls ship in poly bags inside woven bags, private-label packing is available, and we load from Shanghai or Ningbo.
10. Questions from Footwear Sourcing Teams
Does the mesh stay intact where the shoe flexes?
Yes. Because the two faces are connected by knitted spacer yarns rather than adhesive, there is no glue line to fail at the flex point, and the 2 to 3 mm profile recovers after compression instead of crushing.
Why does anti-static matter in footwear?
For industrial, cleanroom and ESD-sensitive footwear programmes, a material that dissipates static charge reduces the risk of discharge and of attracting dust. The finish level can be adjusted to your requirement.
Can you match our colour and cut width?
Both are routine. Dyeing and finishing happen in our own plant, so face and base tones can be matched to your swatch, and the 220 cm roll width reduces offcut waste on wide layouts.
11. Talk to Us About Your Specification
Tell us the component you are making, the colourway and the volume you have in mind, and we will confirm the specification, pricing and a sample.
